The Bristol Christmas Trip sold out within 3 days of going on sale last year and on 17th December ,  500 Bristol University Skiers and Snowboarders departed for Mayrhofen.

Upon arrival the snow was falling thick and fast! The students grabbed their keys, lift passes and ski hire and couldn’t get on the slopes quick enough!

With SubFocus and MC I.D. lighting up the Arena for the opening night party, the Superheroes from Wonderwoman to Super Ted, were out in force. The Bristol gang aren’t your typical  students, preferring foie gras to funnels! However  they went for it in resort and showed the locals exactly how its done! Jaegerbombs were flying around in the notorious après venue, Ice bar, and before long the students were dancing on the tables!

Sunday saw one of the best Back Country Parties we have seen yet! The walk up the mountain was enchanting, and the Scnapps half way  up  made it all the more worthwhile! Bristol fully involved themselves in the party and the toboogan ride back down, which was particularly hair raising as the drop in temperature had made the track more slippy than a greased up marmot!

The snow was falling thick and fast in both Mayrhofen and the Uk, which meant Jack Beats couldn’t make the trip to Austria, but not to worry, Snowbombing and Outgoing favourites, Urban Knights stepped in and saved the day with a stormer of a set!

There were definitely a few sore heads the morning after but nothing the Austrian air couldn’t sort out and the students were soon on the slopes for ‘ Valley Rally’ with prizes offered courtesy of Smart Wool. Bristol descended on the slopes in fancy dress and the fun and games ensued to create an awesome afternoon on the mountain with the winning team winning a trip to Summer Break 2011!

Part 2 of the Valley Rally was held in the evening and the locals of Mayrhofen embraced it as their own.  ABRUB (Alpine Beverage Racing University of Bristol) started in the Hotel Strass Bar and the contestants then raced around in teams of 4 to bars around the town all dressed in 118 118 gear!  There were some impressive times, the winning team completing the course in under 10 minutes which was an incredible feat!

Afterwards, Krafty Kuts  layed down the finest breakbeat and electro tunes and  even played his exclusive new track to the moustachioed massive which went down a storm!

Wednesday saw the Freestyle session and the party in the Park.  With visibility quite low, the freestylers managed to have their stacks hidden slightly, though there were some impressive flips and tricks on display. Then it was back to the Ice bar to Apres ski for one final time before heading back to the Uk the next day.

Thanks to all who came for an amazing week.  Students of Bristol… we salute you!
