DESTINATION OF THE MONTH – SOUTH AFRICA

Jul 9 2010

2 weeks ago I packed my bags and hopped on a plane to Cape Town! I was so excited, not only was I heading to one of the worlds most beautiful cities but also about to experience ‘World Cup Fever!’

I was lucky enough to watch an England world cup match at the 68,000 seater Green Point stadium and it was amazing. (The stadium, not England’s football skills!) The atmosphere was unreal in Cape Town with so many different nationalities coming together to cheer on their country!

There is so much to see and do including a visit to Robben Island (Nelson Mandela was once imprisoned here), wine tasting in the many scenic vineyards, a visit to the penguin colony and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Not to mention the great restaurants and bars that line Camps Bay and the waterfront. An absolute must is a trip up the cable car to Table Mountain, the view is breath taking!

As well as visiting the capital, there are also many other cities and routes that offer sights, adventure and beauty including Johannesburg, Durban and the Garden route.  The Kruger Park is world renowned and its 2 million hectares features 16 eco systems!

Go almost anywhere in South Africa and you will experience the combination of wildlife, culture, adventure, heritage and vibe!

One thing to remember when booking your holiday is that we have opposite seasons to South Africa here in England, although their winter weather is certainly nothing like ours! I enjoyed lots of glorious sunny days when I was there but it wasn’t sunbathing weather.  The currency is South African Rand and at the moment a holiday over there is quite affordable.

South Africa is one of the most amazing countries, a definite must on any travellers tick list and truly deserves destination of the month!

BeOutgoing can take you to South Africa so you can be charmed as much as I was!
