It’s been a long hard slog but we’ve finally reached our destination. 20 brand spanking new, tip top Student Brand Managers (SBM’s). We’ve scoured the country, trekking from Newcastle to Southampton to find highly motivated, well connected and incredibly Outgoing student ambassadors!

After receiving over 5,000 online applications, organizing interviews and travelling the length and breadth of England’s green and pleasant lands, select candidates were put through a grueling interview process to separate the strong from the even stronger! This was no easy decision folks, you set the bar high, and the competition was brutal. To all those who applied thank you, you were brilliant, stay in touch… you never know what we may need you for in the future.

So we have our 20, what now?…well it would be rude not to take our new SBM’s on a mystery training Weekend Break, wouldn’t it?! So off we tootled to our secret destination, a coach full of enthusiastic, confident students, most of which discovered they had just landed their dream part time job earlier that day, ear plugs anyone?! The decibel levels once again peaked on passing the ‘Verwelkom naar Amsterdam’ sign, ‘Welcome to Amsterdam’ to you and me.

Bikes and camera’s were distributed and the SBM’s were unleashed on Amsterdam to seek out some of the cities most famous landmarks as well as some of the lesser known nooks and crannies. The guys had a brilliant day and some of them even managed to find themselves a backing band and put on a performance in Dam Square! Spot on my lovelies!

But it wasn’t all fun and games; we had an early start on Saturday morning for the training day. Slightly hung over but fully attentive the SBM’s began to soak up all things Outgoing. The afternoon session was led by Jamie Edwards (Trained Brain), one of the county’s leading Peak Performance coaches, who ran through a number of exercises designed to maximize individual and team performance. Thank you to Jamie for an incredible afternoon, we all left feeling enlightened and just that little bit more Jedi!

The SBM’s hail from Uni. Southampton, Uni. Liverpool, Uni. Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam, Uni. Birmingham, Uni. Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan, Uni. York, Nottingham Trent, Uni. Newcastle, Northumbria Uni, Uni. Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan, Loughborough, UWE, Uni. Bristol, Uni. Warwick, Uni. Liverpool. Over the coming months they will be set a series of missions from head office….stay tuned to find out how they get on.
